Oh Memory!

One of the themes of my novel deals with human trafficking. It’s a crime that is taking place in cities and towns across the country and around the world. I’ve covered the issue on numerous occasions as a reporter, so I’ve had extensive opportunities to learn about the subject from victims to victim’s advocates to law enforcement.

All of that background information helps to paint a gruesome picture in a fictional world. So today I read a little and even do some editing on the fly.

By the way, just a piece of advice about something you probably already know; write down your ideas. I don’t have an eidetic memory so that I will forget things. And the other I had an idea for a story, but since I didn’t write it down, well I lost that story.

I'm blessed. Most of my professional career, almost 20 years, I've spent as a journalist. Some of it was in print, a little in television, but most of it in radio. I've worked with some wonderfully talented producers and directors in those two decades. It would take pages to elaborate on all of the experiences I've had as a reporter, producer and host. Needless to say they include opportunities talking with leaders of state, religious leaders, civic leaders, writers, artists and entertainers. The last couple decades have been a lot of fun. But, the next couple decades will be far better.
