Who Do You Turn To When Going Dark?

When you’re feeling blue, and you don’t know where to go to, why not go where inspiration sits, and get to writing.

I’ve been moody these last few days, but instead of moping, I used the energy to my advantage. I forced myself to sit at my computer and write. A lot of it was crap. But, a few strange and unique ideas showed themselves in those moments of anger and resentment and fear.

I’m still working mostly on my short stories. And I want to go a little darker, so I went to one of the masters; Dante. Yup, I started rereading Divine Comedy to remind myself of how to darken my storytelling.

Remember, write, right now.

I'm blessed. Most of my professional career, almost 20 years, I've spent as a journalist. Some of it was in print, a little in television, but most of it in radio. I've worked with some wonderfully talented producers and directors in those two decades. It would take pages to elaborate on all of the experiences I've had as a reporter, producer and host. Needless to say they include opportunities talking with leaders of state, religious leaders, civic leaders, writers, artists and entertainers. The last couple decades have been a lot of fun. But, the next couple decades will be far better.
