Looking For A Better Way.

There are days when it feels as though I have all day to write. Then there are those days when the clock is my enemy. Either way, I have to make the most of whatever time I get to finish some writing.

I’ve mentioned before that sometimes I write while I’m commuting to work. No, I am not typing or texting while driving (give me some credit). Use the Memo App on your phone to record yourself. I just imagine someone is in the car with me and I’m telling them a story. Later that weekend I’ll transcribe the audio and start editing the words.

Going back to an older podcast, I need to raise the issue over the number of words written in a day. I’m still averaging about 500-700 words on the weekdays. It doesn’t feel like a lot, but after a few months, it’s a lot. Write as much as you can in the time you have. Just write.

I'm blessed. Most of my professional career, almost 20 years, I've spent as a journalist. Some of it was in print, a little in television, but most of it in radio. I've worked with some wonderfully talented producers and directors in those two decades. It would take pages to elaborate on all of the experiences I've had as a reporter, producer and host. Needless to say they include opportunities talking with leaders of state, religious leaders, civic leaders, writers, artists and entertainers. The last couple decades have been a lot of fun. But, the next couple decades will be far better.
